Reconstructing Ideas

Over the Easter break, we kept in contact via text, online group messages and Skype. After some further thinking, Christie said she had an idea involving the journey behind a man’s journey of ‘self-happiness’ and his families acceptance for him being a transgender. We discussed the idea further as a group, stating it would be a great idea to base our drama upon, as long as it was approached in the right way.
After further talks we developed the new idea and created ideal characters and a strong storyline. The drama would be centred on main character ‘Ben’, a young post-graduate living with his mother (‘Maggie’) who decides to tell her that he is transgender and wants to be a woman. However, his mother is completely against the idea and cannot imagine why her son would want this. Her reaction results in Ben leaving to stay with a close friend ‘Mick’, who after some time convinces Ben to try and reconcile things with his mum. Agreeing to meet her in a local park, he tries one last time to gain her support, but she can’t come round the idea of him wanted to be someone else, resulting in Ben leaving for good.
Christie took these ideas away and started to develop a script.
