Location One
73, Sheldon Road, Sheffield, South
Yorkshire
+ Good sized house
+ Location is suitable for two separate
scripted locations (Maggie’s kitchen & Mick’s living room)
+ Large windows in living room offer good
amount of light
+ Plenty of electrical power sockets in
both rooms to power equipment
+ Quite location - the double-glazed
windows are soundproof enough for traffic outside
- Tight in areas of house which may be a
slight issue when moving equipment around for various shots whilst filming,
e.g. actual kitchen space is quite small
- May struggle with natural light in
kitchen to rear of the house if weather outside is dull
- Large dog in the house may get in the way
at times during production
The house in general is a great location and the different
styles of rooms will allow us to use the same location for two separate scenes,
which will save both time and money for actor travel expenses.
Location Two
Meersbrook Park, Sheffield
+ Great location for establishing shots,
has brilliant views of Sheffield
+ Large park with various areas enough
space to film away from lots of the public
+ If weather is clear, use of natural light
should make a good picture
- Location is right on top of a large hill,
may be a problem if we have a lot of equipment
- Can’t guarantee the weather, possible it
may rain heavily
- Strong winds lately may be a major
disruption for sound recording
- No electrical power points nearby if
batteries run low, etc.
Finding such a big location can allow us to play around
using different areas and camera shots. After walking up to the top of the
park, we found a particular location that overlooks Sheffield that we felt
would be a great set up for the final scene.
